Butterfly Garden
Vision
Our vision was to create an observation butterfly garden, using native species to promote biodiversity. A garden for butterflies to feed and rest, but also for students to observe the changes in plants and wildlife that occur over the seasons.
Action
We chose a site that was accessible for all classes, but still protected enough for the plants and wildlife.
We researched appropriate plants to attract butterflies and that were native species to our area.
We researched all about butterfly gardens, beyond the appropriate plants, to see what else we should include.
We included QR codes on the fence that contained information about the plants and about butterfly gardens in general.
We prepped the site, added soil, planted the plants, topped with mulch and are watering. Now we are just waiting and watching to see if we get any visitors (of the butterfly kind).
