Environmental Education Library Display

Vision

Using influential and age-appropriate books as a vehicle to educate and inspire this generation of global citizens.

Action

As an eco-friendly school, the staff at St. Maurice strive to inspire students to become caring and responsible stewards of the planet. After reflecting on our different approaches to teaching about environmental sustainability and climate change, we realized that we were not as effective in reaching our grade 8-12 students. Since we have many avid readers in our middle/high school, we decided to create a display in our library that features books on the following topics: environmental stewardship, climate change, and Indigenous perspectives on the environment and climate change.
The resources are geared towards students between the ages of thirteen and eighteen. By offering these reading options to our students, we hope to educate and inspire this generation of global citizens.
