Grow Green!

Vision

Our vision for Canada is to reduce the carbon footprint of our current generation.

Action

Our team attended LSF’s Youth Leadership Forum in Guelph in December. From the speakers and workshops, we learned about sustainability topics and skills such as: water sustainability, environmental sustainability, economic sustainability, collaboration, initiative, and choosing your battles. Learning about these things made us interested in pursuing Action Projects related to the issue(s) of water, trees/plants, garbage (plastic), and energy (renewable energy, energy consumption). These things are important to us because we see a real opportunity for improvement within our school and community. To fix these issues, some actions we could take are: establish community garbage pickup, clean up peace garden, and plant more plants around the school. To get started, first we’ll need to talk to our teacher, principal, and city council to learn more about the cost of these initiatives, and how we could do the most good for our community. We hope that by the end of the school year, we will have a beautiful, eco-friendly school, and have slightly reduced our ecological footprint!
