St. Aidan Community Garden Project

Vision

The Grade 4/5 students of St. Aidan Catholic School would like to create a vegetable garden in the schoolyard. The garden will supply our school snack program with healthy student-grown fruits and vegetables for the school. Many students in the school rely on the snack program for a healthy morning snack and as such it is a very important program in our school. The students also see this project as a way that they can create a new habitat for insects, small animals and birds within our community.

Action

The school Community Garden provides students, many of whom do not have access to green space at home, an opportunity to learn first-hand about the hard work that goes into growing fruits and vegetables from seeds/plants. The harvest from their garden project is shared with all students in their snack program.
