Vision

Our vision for Canada is to have more people understand the importance of protecting the natural environment.

Action

Our team attended LSF’s Youth Leadership Forum in Guelph in December. From the speakers and workshops, we learned about sustainability topics and skills such as: invasive species, the positive aspects of cycling in the community, the necessity of clean water, and connecting with nature. Learning about these things made us interested in pursuing Action Projects related to: promoting the necessity of pollinators in our ecosystem by creating a small school garden; educating students in our school about global sustainability issues; and fundraising for local environmental clean-up initiatives. These things are important to us because most of the issues are directly linked to our lives, such as water and pollinators. To fix these issues, one action we could take is informing our peers. To get started, first we’ll need to talk to our teacher, and some other schools that have already had success with an Action Plan to learn about bees and environmental issues across Canada and the world. We hope that by the end of the school year, we will have informed our fellow peers about the issues of climate change and raised some money to help local organizations tackling sustainability initiatives!
