Vision

To make our school a cleaner and better environment. We hope use the principles of cleanliness and environmental stewardship in Islam to encourage students to find motivation and inspiration to leave this world better than we found it.

Action

We have a dream of a recycling station at our school office and have started small, using recycled boxes and containers within our school we have made containers in each classroom to collect dried markers and pens. We made central boxes to hold dead batteries. We purchased a terracycle bin for plastics, but plan to keep collecting plastic bags to drop off at a local grocery store. We assisted in expanding an existing vermicompost in grade 5. Our hopes are to eventually expand until we can collect as much waste as possible and divert it from the landfill.

Reflection & Celebration

We will calculate how many lbs of waste we have diverted from the landfill and share that information with the school via an assembly or over the PA system.
