Vision

We want to plant asparagus by our greenhouse. Asparagus is one of the few plants that ripens when school is still in session. The Foods class will be able to use the asparagus to cook with. This will teach students that they can be sustainable at home by growing their own food which will reduce greenhouse gases that are emitted during the transport of food.

Action

We planted 50 asparagus plants behind our greenhouse at school. The Outdoor Ed and Environmental Science class will continue to care and water for the plants through the spring and fall and through the following spring. We have been advised to allow the plants two growing seasons before harvesting any stalks.
