Back to Recycling!

We had a vision of reducing the amount of waste going to the landfill from our school by bringing back a recycling program that was no longer in use.

We scoured the school to find the bins that were used in the former recycling program, cleaned them up, designed logos and decaled the bins so that students would know what went in each bin. We communicated with our administration, resource department and our custodial staff to plan for collection of the recyclables and recorded an educational video to present to our student body informing them of why and how they can recycle at our school. This week we launched our program and our first collection is set for June 3rd, 2021.

Reflection & Celebration

We are very proud of our work and have received many positive comments about our video from students and teachers alike. We were able to buy 70% less plastic bins by cleaning and reusing the ones that we found which made us very happy! We plan on taking a class to celebrate all of our initiatives this semester during the last week of classes.
