Vision

To provide habitat for butterflies. We also wanted to beautify our school grounds.

Action

Our school garden area had been neglected and had become grown up with weeds. Our grade 3/4 classes and our environmental club worked together to create a beautiful area that hopefully attracts butterflies. The first step was to clear the area of the waist high weeds. The ground was covered to prevent the weeds from growing. The milkweed remained for the monarch butterfly. We then planted butterfly bushes, coneflower, and honeysuckle. Wood chips covered the black fabric. We are proud of the transformation and are looking forward to seeing the butterflies enjoy this area.
