Butterflyway, rain barrels, and native plants!

Vision

Our vision for a better Canada is to promote more biodiversity in our schoolyard while respecting the ecosystems already in place.

In October 2024, our Gardening Club began planning a butterflyway. We planned to incorporate more native pollinator-friendly plants. After attending the Youth Forum, we clarified our sustainability vision. We implemented several key sustainable actions: building two rain barrels, relocating pollinator-friendly native plants to the upper section of the yard (instead of purchasing new ones), revitalizing the soil in an old flower bed, and adding three native plants.

We are grateful to have attended the Youth Forum, as it provided us with a deeper understanding of what sustainable actions entail. Also, it motivated us to achieve our goals with a greater sense of responsibility towards the environment.

Our poster, featuring pictures and videos, illustrates the key steps of the Action Project.
We hope that you will find it inspiring! We look forward to reading about other projects as well!

Reflection & Celebration

We are proud of our achievements. Thanks to the grant and to the students who joined our efforts, we were able to achieve our goals. We feel ready to present another project for next year: Building a school community greenhouse!
