Vision

Holy Spirit students will collaborate with Fishers, Scientists and fellow citizen scientists to develop a better understanding of Conception Bay. The project will teach students how to monitor the water quality and note the presence of marine species. A short term outcome of the project will be the familiarization of students with the conditions of the ocean and appreciation for the challenges face by aquatic species. The long term goals are to create a data base to track changes caused by global warming and produce citizen scientists who are informed advocates of the environment.

Action

Place temperature arrays at various sites within Conception Bay and collect water samples to determine pH. Consult with local fishers, the general public and scientists to correlate the physical conditions with the presence of marine species.
