Vision

Our vision for Canada is to reduce the number of cars and other automobiles on the road.

Action

Our team attended LSF’s Youth Leadership Forum in Guelph in December. From the speakers and workshops, we learned about sustainability topics and skills such as: energy efficiency, outdoor learning, and connecting with nature. Learning about these things made us interested in pursuing Action Projects related to: waste sorting, promoting bicycling & walking, promoting outdoor spaces, energy and technology, action on climate change, carbon neutral demo… we have so many ideas! These things are important to us because we need to spread awareness within the school community & encourage action.

Now ODSS Environment Club is in the process of turning a section of our courtyard into a pollinator garden (previously lawn). This courtyard is already home to our school compost and organic gardens. We have made signs and are currently preparing the area for planting in the next couple of weeks. We have used our grant $, as well as additional funding from the school board, to purchase raised accessible garden beds for use by our Transitions students. We wanted all students at ODSS to have the opportunity to grow their own food.
