Vision

Students were interested in starting their own seedlings from scratch, but since our school was designed with limited natural light, we requested funds from LSF to purchase two grow light tables and supplies needed to grow our own plants indoors.

Action

Students selectes the grow light style, types of seeds and trays needed to complete their climate action project. They then filled the trays with potting soil and planted tomato, pepper and flower seeds. All these plants will be cared for by the students from Club Vert-ennes and will be transplanted into the École Varennes Community Garden.

Reflection & Celebration

Students loved getting their hands dirty as they learn about what it takes to grow plants from seeds. They were especially keen since many of the seeds were collected from fruits, pods and dried flowers last fall. They appreciated seeing the full life-cycle of these plants.
