Vision

To rebuild community vegetable gardens on the school grounds to provide students with valuable life skills, to supplement lessons and to provide families with fresh produce.

Action

Five raised beds were built using wood frames. With the help of a community volunteer, students helped to build, arrange and fill frames with weed deterrent and soil. Seeds and seedlings were planted and maintained by students during the school day.

Reflection & Celebration

One class opened the gardens officially with a prayer service. Communication was sent out to families, inviting them to help maintain, and eventually harvest, the gardens throughout the summer months.
