Vision

This is our first year running a Green Industries course at our school. We talk a lot about what we can do to help the environment and so we decided to start a composting program at our school.

Action

Our Action Project involved building a compost bin and introducing a composting program to the school. My Construction classes were responsible for designing and building the compost bin, while my Green Industries class was responsible for introducing the composting program to the school. This class also remains responsible for collecting compost on a daily basis. The idea came about because in the Green Industries class, we’ve been learning about ways to help the environment. This project is helping to reduce what goes in our local landfill and it is hopefully motivating students to try composting at home. The compost will also be used in the new garden that my Green Industries class has started this year.

Reflection & Celebration

So far, we have collected approximately 1 cubic yard of compost and we’ve only just begun.
