Consume. Compost. Create.
Vision
Our vision for Canada is to promote sustainable change by significantly reducing food waste.
Action
Our team attended LSF’s Youth Leadership Forum in Guelph in December. From the speakers and workshops, we learned about sustainability topics and skills such as: tree identification, invasive species identification, the importance of eradicating plastic single use bottles. Learning about these things made us interested in pursuing Action Projects related to reducing food waste/landfill waste and reducing CO2 emissions. These things are important to us because they provide the opportunity for a cleaner, healthier, and more sustainable future. To fix these issues, some actions we could take are composting and creating a garden at our school. We would sell the produce from the garden and use the money to donate/create more Action Projects in the future. To get started, first we’ll need to talk to faculty, administration, other student, garden centres to learn about how to garden sustainability. We hope that by the end of the school year, we will have a fully working garden using composted material in our soil!
