Cool Classroom: Designing a Portable Air Conditioning Unit with Recyclable Materials
Vision
Our school is a small private school that has been serving the Muslim community in Halifax since 1984. The school building is very old, and as a non profit school, we always like to support our school at low cost using different sustainable resources.
Recently, our classrooms tend to get really hot during the summer time (May & June), which makes it hard to students for focus in class and enjoy learning time.
Therefore, as part of our vision to support the school at low cost, we decided to create the portable ACs for every classroom. This idea brought to us many hands on skills and helped us to relate/ connect many science and math ideas to this project. The objective of this project is to design and construct a portable air conditioning unit for classrooms using recyclable materials. The unit should be efficient, cost-effective, and easy to assemble, providing a sustainable solution for cooling educational spaces.
Action
The objective of this project is to design a portable air conditioning (AC) unit using recyclable materials that can effectively cool a classroom environment. By repurposing materials and promoting sustainability, this project aims to provide a cost-effective and eco-friendly solution to combat rising temperatures in educational settings.
Reflection & Celebration
In conclusion, designing a portable classroom AC using recyclable materials offers a practical and environmentally friendly approach to cooling classrooms. By repurposing materials and promoting sustainability, this project contributes to addressing both educational and environmental challenges. Further research and innovation in this area can lead to the development of cost-effective and accessible cooling solutions for schools worldwide.
