Vision

To green our school by diverting organic waste from lunches into compost.

Action

We purchased 4 classroom vermicomposters with a grant from Learning for a Sustainable Future. We also requested a grant from Parent Council to host a workshop from Box of Life to help us set up and learn about vermicomposting. Three classes attended the workshop and two classes took on vermicomposting in class. This is an ongoing project and staff will take the composters home for the summer and return them next school year.

Reflection & Celebration

It was really great to see students engage with the worms and to want to name them. We have approximately 200 red wrigglers all named Bob.
