Edible Herb Garden
Vision
To create a garden area that is full of safely edible plants that children can safely touch, smell and taste to explore with their senses and in the future with which they can use in cooking shared meals together.
Action
We learned about herb spirals and created one with stones collected in the forest at the back of campus and learned about how different plants need different amounts of water. The plants planted near the bottom of the spiral receive more water that drains down and the plants at the top can be ones that are more drought tolerant, like Mediterranean herbs of rosemary and oregano.
Reflection & Celebration
Its a beautiful spiral and we hope to create a second one outside the grade 1 & 2 classrooms. We are hoping to have a celebration on Earth Day in April.
