EJ Eagles Native Planting Project
Vision
Our vision is to help native plant species grow and flourish in our community. We want to help them not go extinct by giving more opportunities for them to grow spread. These native plants will help provide shelter and food for native animal and insect species.
We want to plant native tree species to help our environment to provide clean air, habitats, shade, and good health for years to come. Increasing our tree cover will help reduce greenhouse gases and reduce our carbon footprint.
Action
Our action is still in progress. We are in the planning stages in our planting project, and reached out to community organizations and are ready to plant when our class of 27 can all be together again. Upon completion, our project will see 3 mature trees planted in our school yard, in addition to over 25 native shrubs and native flowers friendly to pollinators. We will add bee boxes and additional shelter overwintering homes for insects as well.
Reflection & Celebration
We hope that we can participate in LSF’s Youth Forums again in the future. It has been such a great experience! 🙂 We can’t wait to spread the word to see this project spread far and wide.
