Vision

Once our classes started growing food with tower gardens, we wanted to focus on having less waste within the classrooms. We wanted to start composting.

Action

We purchased a Foodcycler composting unit. This unit turned food scraps from the tower gardens and student lunches into a mulch like product that the students could take home and use in their flower beds and gardens. The future goal is to continue to add foodcylers and sell the mulch to raise funds for more green initiatives in the school.

Reflection & Celebration

The students have loved watching their waste become a useful product. Knowing that they have the ability to make a difference is a huge thing for the kids. We can not wait to expand this program and cut down on what goes into the landfill.
