Fresh Foods Good for the Body – Good for the Environment


Our vision is to reduce the waste going into the environment and to improve students’ health by encouraging students to eat more fresh local foods instead of packaged processed foods.


Our Green team collected waste from students recess snacks. We graphed the different types of waste. We created a slide show to show students the health benefits to the environment and themselves from eating fresh unprocessed local foods. We then invited each class to prepare healthy snacks with the team and share samples with the school. We encourage students replace processed snacks with healthy homemade snacks or fresh fruits and vegetables. We provide fresh fruits and vegetables for a healthy snack day and graphed the difference in the waste collected on that day compared to our first waste collection day.
