Girls Against Water Waste

Our vision for Canada is for people to stop wasting water so the environment can stay healthy. We want to encourage people to use less water so it will be available to everyone on Earth. We envision a world where everyone can have clean water to use daily. We want our fellow students to know they have a part to play in keeping our water sources safe.

Our action plan was to hang posters up at each water fountain in our school that talked about water facts and how valuable water is. We made presentations to grade six and seven classes about how water wastage is hurting the planet. We gave them tips on how to save water. We did morning announcements to tell some facts about Earth Day and how important it is. We have a school population of 637 students. This was how we made people in our school aware of the problem.

Reflection & Celebration

We really enjoyed presenting our information to the grade 6 and 7 classes and were happy to see the students engaged and asking us questions. We also enjoyed filming with our group members as we know our message is very important to share with others. On June 1st, 2023 our school is having an Open House and we plan to have our information available to the public to view. We will have a poster board that explains our project and we will have a laptop running our documentary for parents to see. We plan to have a celebration with our other grade eight classes to invite them to hear our message. We will continue to educate and inform throughout the rest of the school year.
