Vision

We are a class of varied and mixed abilities. Our students have undertaken a gardening project. We live in the North of Canada and we need to teach our students how to grow their produce as our produce is often not very nutritious by the time we purchase it in the North.

Action

We have began to garden in our classroom a variety of vegetables such as carrots, peas, bean, peppers and zucchini. As part of our learning process we also have begun to teach the cycle of decomposition to our students through the implementation of in school composting programs. We have taught our students the ideas of the plant cycle and since we a life skills based program, it has been a natural fit into our science component.
