Vision

Our vision is to educate, motivate, and inspire school communites to take an active role in caring for the environment. Specifically, we are focusing on reducing the amount of litter produced from something we do every single day… eating!

Action

We have organized a team of dedicated students who check all the lunch rooms in our school (of over 1000 students!) every school day 1 to see who has brought a “litterless” lunch… and they are strict! Those students, who are litter-free, are entered into a monthly draw for a chance to win breakfast for their homeroom.
Reusable plates, bowls, utensils, and cups are used for the breakfast provided to the winning student’s homeroom. Most of the food items do not include litter and the few that do are recyclable. Aside from connecting to another SDG of “Zero Hunger”, the breakfast prize demonstrates what litterless meals can look like.

Some students from our dedicated Eco team also put together a graph to serve as a motivator. The graph compared and displayed the participation from each overall grade level.
