Living Wall
Vision
Create a Living Wall, inspired by a Science Fair project this year, to provide product to use in the Foods classes, as well use in food preparation for those in need in our surrounding community. Additionally, the Living Wall would include plants to attract pollinators, with our Bee Keeping club and their hives in mind.
Action
We decided on materials to use for the wall and settled on black 8″ pots (30 of them), and 2 – 18 pocket- Jute Living Wall. Once they were installed on the fence by our school principal, we planted a variety of herbs: cilantro, chives, rosemary, thyme, and parsley; vegetables: lettuces, spinach, kale, arugula, radishes, cabbage and bok choy; and pollinating plants: marigolds, wild flower seed mix cultivated specifically for bees, and a carnation variant.
