Vision

To create a school-wide composting program.

Action

Purchase and install a garden compost bin. Purchase classroom compost bins to collect food waste. Members of the school’s Green Team will collect food waste daily and garden waste (intermittently) to compost outdoors.

Reflection & Celebration

While we were able to purchase the items for the Green Team, we will not be able to implement the compost vision until Fall of 2021 due to school restrictions and shutdowns due to the pandemic. The Green Team was not able to operate this year. Thankfully, we had a small group of students who were children of Critical Service Workers that attended school in-person these past few weeks. These students (not Green Team members) were able to help with the installation of the outdoor compost bin and participate in weeding of our gardens. They gathered yard/garden waste to put in our compost bin to start it off!
