LSF Funding Action Plans
Vision
We wanted to share awareness of Climate Action in our school community and expand to the local community.
Action
We completed two projects. This year our school’s Big Idea was “we speak for the trees.” We wanted to plant some native species trees on our yard to provide to an outdoor classroom space. My Grade 8 class worked with the Grey Sauble Conservation to begin to remove invasive species at their arboretum. We donated $250 to their organization to receive 10 trees to plant on our yard. The second part of our project was created at the LSF conference by the students. They were really concerned by the garbage that students are putting down our school storm drains. We have a stream that travels through our yard, that the students watch fish, turtles, frogs and birds use. They wanted to let their student population know that the stream is connected to our storm drain and all water is connected- when we pollute the drains, we are hurting the animals they love at watch at recess. The last part of our project was to continue our LSF sticker project. We ordered more stickers with the SDG Goal pictures and expanded our project by stickering parts of the community to the SDGs. (#14 at the marina and fishline recycling, #6 at community water refill station, #12 and #13 on recycling and garbage bins).
