Making Orangeville a Blue Community

Vision

Our vision for Canada is to have a population that recognizes and acts on the importance of protecting our water commons. This is important to us/our school community because we feel that we have a responsibility to use water resources wisely, so that future generations can enjoy them, too. We hope that people will use the information and networks available to them to raise awareness, spread ideas, and take action!

Action

Based on attending the EcoLeague Youth Forum on October 26, 2017, we learned about sustainability topics and skills such as bike safety, plastic water bottle usage, invasive species, and career planning. To fix some of the issues that we discussed, actions we could take include hosting a clean-up day, fixing up bikes at school, and writing a letter to our mayor about the harmful effects of using plastic water bottles. We hope that by the end of the school year, we will have started to make a Orangeville blue community.
