Vision

Our vision is to reduce greenhouse gases and material going to landfill by promoting composting. Students and staff will become aware of how easy it is to compost and contribute to the fight to maintain our climate.

Action

We purchased a LOMI composter to use in the cafeteria and are assembling a team and a schedule to maintain it. The LOMI composter is part of a bigger plan to implement a full composting program at the school, which includes a triple bin system and will connect the school with the community by providing compost.

Reflection & Celebration

The LOMI composter has been named Jerry and has his own Instagram page. The students who have adopted Jerry are passionate about maintaining the program and will help it grow into a bigger project next year. It has become a way to feel connected and impactful for the students involved. It will be a great way to promote community within the school as we will have classes adopt Jerry for a week at a time.
