Pollinator Garden
Vision
Our vision was to ensure our school gardens were contributing to local biodiversity and not simply beautifying our school. We want to use our gardens as an opportunity to educate and inform our community.
Action
Our students weeded and emptied six existing concrete plant beds that were straddling either side of an outdoor seating area on our school grounds. All the beds were full of grasses and weeds. We planted 40+ native pollinator-friendly plants (15 individual species) and will be creating educational signage for each to inform our community about the ecosystem services they provide.
