Pollinator Garden

Vision

We envision a vibrant, sustainable garden that nurtures biodiversity, supports pollinator populations, and inspires our school community to become active stewards of the environment. Through hands-on learning and ecological responsibility, we aim to create a lasting space where nature and education thrive together.

Action

As part of our EcoTeam initiative, we took several meaningful actions to support local pollinators and promote sustainability. We began by researching the importance of pollinators, particularly butterflies, and how they contribute to healthy ecosystems. Using this knowledge, we planned a dedicated pollinator garden filled with native wildflowers that provide nectar for butterflies and host plants for caterpillars. We selected a space around existing trees, pruned the branches, and laid fresh soil to prepare the area. With support from LSF funding, we purchased soil, native plants, and a weatherproof educational sign. Students planted the wildflowers. To protect the environment, we avoided using pesticides choosing natural gardening methods instead. Through these actions, we not only created a safe space for pollinators, but also encouraged sustainable practices and environmental responsibility within our school community.
