Reduce, Repair, and Pollinate

Vision

Our vision is to help the environment by reducing our impact through air pollution reduction, learning skills to repair or reuse items, and to plant pollinator gardens.

Action

This year our Eco Club focused on helping the environment by reducing air pollution. We also discussed the need to divert items from the landfill and learned skills like sewing to repair clothing and other items instead of throwing them out and replacing them with new items. We also discovered a delicious way to use up those extra veggies by learning to make quick pickles. And we are continuing to divert old batteries from the landfill by creating a new battery monster for our school, as our old battery monster is retiring.

Reflection & Celebration

Eco Club members and facilitators learned many new skills this year that can be used for years to come. Students had many projects to take home, such as repaired clothing or new creations made out of scraps of fabric, jars of quick pickled veggies, and planters that were made of empty large plastic water bottles filled with native plants.
