Reusing Resources!

Vision

Our vision for Canada is that institutions use as many reusable resources as possible, so that together we can make a difference in keeping our environment healthy.

Action

On November 10th, our team attended LSF’s Youth Leadership Forum in Halifax. From the speakers and workshops, we learned about sustainability topics and skills such as creating less garbage and being educated about using and allocating resources. This made us interested in pursuing Action Projects about using more environmentally-friendly resources inside of our school. This is important to our school because we use many resources that are disposed of and we can make an effort to address this and, in doing so, help our environment to be healthier. An action we can take is using recyclable or reuseable plates and utensils in our cafeteria. To get started, we’ll need to talk to the owners of the cateteria and our school’s administration. We’ll also need to learn more about the cost of these recyclable/reuseable resources and the different companies that provide them. We hope that by the end of the school year, we will have helped our school in any way we can to be more environmentally-friendly.
