Action
Today, our whole Elementary student body learned about honey bees and how the hives work and why we need to protect them. The goal now after the learning is for the Grade one students to assist the Climate Action Team of Grade 10 and 11 students, fix and replant and plant new flowers and wildflowers and greenery into the flowerbeds out back of the school. We have been classified as a Bee school a few years back but have not really done anything about it since.
The Grade ones will be helping to maintain the flowers until the end of the school year and will continue to help as they move forward with the school.
They want to show the community how important Bees are in our survival. We are helpfully going to get some more grant money to help us make signs with information about the bees and the gardens.
Reflection & Celebration
We will celebrate once the flowerbeds are complete and we see more bees return the area!
