Sort It Out!

Our vision for Canada is to significantly increase the number of recycling initiatives across the country.

Our team attended LSF’s Youth Leadership Forum in Guelph in December. From the speakers and workshops, we learned about sustainability topics and skills such as: friction fires, identifying leaves, invasive species, etc. Learning about these things made us interested in pursuing Action Projects related to proper disposal of waste. These things are important to us because our school has a lot of issues with sorting waste. To fix these issues, some actions we could take are organizing an art show utilizing recycled materials. To get started, first we’ll need to talk to school administration to learn about waste management processes in Markham. We hope that by the end of the school year, we will have reduced the amount of waste ending up in the wrong receptacles and encouraged students to reduce their litter!
