Vision

Our vision is to increase student knowledge and engagement about climate change.

Action

My class was involved in learning about our school yard. What species of plants are on our land and how are they important. We also learned about the importance of water according to Indigenous teachings. The students were able to plant a spruce tree that was donated by the company that will supply and plant a much larger tree. We learned that plant life, especially trees are important to the environment and a sustainable climate. Being an Indigenous teacher, I thought it was important that I share my teachings about water and plant life with my class to help foster future stewards of the land. The action project of planting a tree was to do something to help future Beatty-Fleming students with shade and air quality.
