How can we grow fresh vegetables within our school to provide families a healthy meal idea?

Action

We purchased a tower garden in our classroom and quickly noticed that we would need LED lights to help the growth. We used our grant to purchase lights for our garden to help grow vegetables.

Reflection & Celebration

We had so much fun with our tower garden during the short 19/20 school year. We grew lots of different vegetables, including basil, celery, lettuce, tomatoes. We were able to provide a couple families with a healthy meal but when covid happened, we had to figure out a way to continue our growing while doing virtual schooling. For families that didn’t have a garden to grow vegetables, we had them come to the school field to plant in our outdoor classroom. We had so much fun growing and will continue to grow vegetables in our classroom with our tower garden.
