Vision

Students will build a vermicomposter and start composting and planting at school.

Action

Students built a vermicomposter at school. As a class, we set it up and started putting our organic waste in the vermicomposter. Slowly, we began to include the students in other classrooms in our hallway. Students have taken the soil from the vermicomposter and have started planting and maintaining plants with the soil from the vermicomposter.

Reflection & Celebration

Students have taken responsibility and ownership over our worms. They save their organic waste to feed them and are focused on maintaining the moisture of the composter. They have a heightened sense of responsibility regarding composting and keeping our plants healthy.
