We’koqma’q Tackles Climate Change

Vision

Our vision for Canada is for everyone to reduce the amount of waste they reduce in order to fight climate change and make a healthy environment.

Action

On Nov 10, our team attended LSF’s Youth Leadership Forum in Halifax. From the speakers and workshops, we learned about sustainability topics and skills such as recycling and global warming, which made us interested in pursuing Action Projects about the issues of climate change. This is important to us, our school, and our community because we want to have a healthy environment. To fix these issues, some actions we could take are starting a composting and recycling campaign in our community. First we’ll need to talk to our Chief and council principal as well as the community members. We’ll also learn more about what it means to recycle properly. We hope that by the end of the school year, we will have reduced paper consumption and be better with recycling.
