Wrapper Recycling and LitterLess Lunch

Our vision for Canada is to have less single-use plastics used and in our landfills.

The Garden Club at Oakenwald School organized a LitterLess Lunch and launched a new wrapper recycling program at our school. They used a TerraCycle Zero Waste box system where classes collect plastic wrappers from food and place it in the box. It is then shipped to Ontario where it can be recycled (no recycling for this material is currently offered in Manitoba).

Reflection & Celebration

Our largest challenge was the closure of our school due to Covid-19 and the rescheduling of the LitterLess Lunch launch. Classes still participated by placing wrappers in the TerraCylce Zero Waste Box but we have not yet filled it. This will continue upon return.
