Vision

Our Student’s for Sustainability (S4S) is a group of like-minded students, with staff advisors, who share a common goal of being part of a more sustainable community.

Action

Our S4S group wanted to take part in the Trout Unlimited Canada Yellowfish Road program to raise awareness about water pollution and to let our community know that what they put into the storm drains will make its way into our watershed and impact organisms who call this ecosystem home. We wanted to encourage our local community to think twice about what goes into the storm drains and to avoid pollutants such as soaps, fertilizers and construction material, because they have long-term, damaging effects on our water. To complete this project, we will paint “Rain Only” and a yellow fish on the curbs beside storm drains, and then distribute pamphlets in the community to educate people and raise awareness for our cause.
