Community Garden and Pollinator Garden

Vision

Pollinators are being lost due to pollution, climate change, and loss of habitat. Pollinator gardens provide a source of food and a nesting site for pollinators and encourage the school community to plant their own pollinator gardens at home. Our community food garden encourages the use of sustainable food sources. Growing our own products to be distributed to members of our community reduces greenhouse emissions from food transport and packaging.

Action

Our students have worked hard to upkeep and re-plant both our community garden and pollinator garden. The pollinator garden was built with the help of LSF funds a few years ago. Thanks to current funding we are able to plant more variety of pollinator plants, upkeep the soil and get much needed supplies. Meanwhile, the community garden was built last year with the help of a past student of the school in collaboration with community members. Its upkeep and re-planting, as well as much needed supplies were purchased with LSF funds.

Reflection & Celebration

Notre Dame students are proud of both gardens and all the work they have done to ensure their success.
