CPET’S Green Audit: Recyling, Composting and Water Usage

Vision

The goal of our project was to engage students in hands-on environmental learning while promoting long-term sustainability at Collège Pierre-Elliott-Trudeau. Through a student-led garbage audit and the installation of a rain barrel, our UNESCO Club aimed to raise awareness about waste management, encourage more sustainable habits within the school community, and provide practical tools for water conservation. By combining data-driven action with visible, lasting change, we hoped to empower students to see themselves as environmental leaders who can make a difference at school and beyond.

Action

Our UNESCO Club at Collège Pierre-Elliott-Trudeau conducted a school-wide garbage audit in partnership with the Green Action Centre to better understand and reduce waste. We used the LSF grant to purchase gloves and supplies to safely sort and analyze the contents of various waste bins. Based on our findings, we created awareness materials and initiated small changes to improve recycling habits. With the remaining funds, we purchased a rain barrel to support sustainable watering practices in our school garden.
