HHS Water Bottle Library Program
Vision
Hampton High is committed to teaching and modelling the 17 UN Sustainable Development Goals. It was our hope that in creating a water bottle library at HHS, students would be more mindful of responsible consumption and production.
Action
In November, 5 students from HHS’s Climate Action Team attended a youth climate forum in Fredericton, NB put on by Learning for a Sustainable Future. The students were given a $500 grant for their school to start a new climate action activity at school. Our students chose to spend the money on purchasing 35 stainless steel water bottles (with the school’s logo) that are now being used as a “water bottle library”. When students at HHS forget their own water bottle or need one for the day, they may sign out a bottle from the library for the day. The Climate Action Team is in charge of advertising, cleaning and maintaining the bottles. This program just launched and we are hopeful it will be popular!
Reflection & Celebration
The water bottle library has been in action for about 3 weeks, and so far we have received positive feedback from students. The library has been somewhat popular and we are hoping to continue to share this new resources with students.
