KinderGarden Community Garden

Vision

To encourage our community and beyond to start small sustainable food gardens, to teach the students when they are young about climate change and how even small things can have a big impact. To bring our community closer together and create connections, become a local hub before we seek ‘Amazon’.

Action

We have created a 4-bed raised sustainable food garden with a rain barrel, composter, pollinator homes, and native plants, with saved and traded seeds. We regularly take part in environmental clean-ups and educate on sorting items before we just toss them in the trash. We hold weekly community farmer’s markets during harvest, where anyone can come and take fresh vegetables and fruit at no cost.

Reflection & Celebration

This is our second season with the KinderGarden and we have already grown so much from last year. We hope that each year we will learn and grow and become more sustainable. What an incredible learning experience for young students to take part in!
