Lasalle Secondary School Classroom Aquaponic Project


The main purpose of the project is to allow students to learn how to grow and harvest sustainable, healthy foods in the classroom. With success of the project, the harvested foods are donated to the school’s breakfast club and caf.


The project was to design and build an aquaponic system in the classroom. Students helped design and construct the large (2 tier/16ft) aquaponic system. The system is a large, permanent system that is able to grow lettuce, tomatoes, peppers, and various other healthy vegetables, as well as harvesting fish (Tilapia).
