Create a Living Wall to be placed inside our school.

Action

We wanted to create something visible that could be integrated into the culture of our school. We believe that a “Living Wall” displayed in our Atrium will serve as a constant reminder of the importance of sustainability and that green spaces are to cherished and preserved. Our school was happy to take on this collaborative project, where many different students of varying abilities were able to play a role. Having the Living Wall in such a highly visible place in the school will also be a welcoming sight to visitors, showing them that we take our role in the environment seriously.

The Living Wall is still under construction – it is near completion, but some finishing touches need to be applied. Once it is complete, we will be going to a local nursery that has agreed to help us choose the best plants to put on the wall – a variety of green plants and herbs, so we have a nice blend that is functional as well as aesthetically pleasing. We are only submitting one receipt at this time for the lumber for the construction of the wall. As stated, the remainder of the funding will go towards buying the pots, soil and plants with the help of the local nursery.
