Vision

We wanted to do something to help out planet and also help our Vanier Community Garden located on our school grounds. Students use the garden to learn about caring for and harvesting plants. Vegetables and herbs harvested from our garden go to our breakfast program. Every year we buy compost. Our goal is to make our own compost to use in the garden and reduce waste that ends up in landfills.

Action

We bought a Canadian-made composter and have begun a compost program at our school from recess and lunch waste. We also made a commercial to teach our school about what can and can’t be used in compost.
